Message Detector PDF Print E-mail

The Message Detector is one of the core modules of OpenSphere as it is able to detect messages of various types (Tibco RendezvousTM, Tibo EMSTM, SwiftMQ, WebSphere© MQ etc.) and presents them to the user through different views. It provides powerful message filtering functionality and lets one easily edit, store and re-send detected messages. Filtered messages are also presented in a chart within specific message time lines. That way chronological dependencies between messages of different types appear in a concentrated view.

The Message Detector for different messaging systems is part of the OpenSphere main program but it can also be started as ia standalone program. Furthermore the Message Detector is also available as an independent application that can be used free of charge. It has become very popular amongst analysts, developers and testers as it provides a quick view to the messaging system of you choice and lets you analyse the traffic and interact with the message flow.

When the Message Detector gets started, it detects messages that are sent on the specified destination (subject, topic or queue), buffers and displays them up to the configured buffer size. Buffered messages are shown chronologically within a table and within a summary view where the number of received messages appears in a progress bar like manner. Buffered messages of the selected row can be displayed within a Message List Editor by pressing the appropriate button from the tool bar. The messages may through that editor be modified and saved to an XML formatted file for further use.

The Message Detector lets you define various message filters at any time. When you define a new filter creiteria, it gets applied on buffered messages and on any future detected message. A new tab with a message table appears for every defined filter and a message time line gets added to a chart that is shown at the bottom of the message detector.
